Finally, after two whole years of Covid19 lockdowns and restrictions, things are looking better this year and the Fraser’s Hill Bird Race 2022 is back again this July.
These last two years saw incredible growth in new birders due to the lockdowns, as many were seeking something to pass the time, and birdwatching was one of them.
Fraser’s Hill International Bird Race 2022
With the first official bird race of 2022, we can expect a large turnout at Fraser’s Hill; also, because of the international borders opening and travel restrictions lifted, even those from Singapore may even make their way to the event.
Fraser’s Hill has been one of the best places for bird watching in Peninsular Malaysia, mainly due to the cool climate, untouched and undeveloped forest and the multiple trails.
The last birding event held here was Fraser’s Hill Bird Race 2019, which saw a massive turnout from local and international participants and visitors. In total, there were teams from 12 countries who took part.
This year, the news of the bird race returning was unofficially announced in March and dates were also set. This would give participants and visitors a chance to book their accommodations and travel arrangements for the event in advance.
As usual, there will be a series of events that will take place during the three-day bird race here, which are;
Bird Race for multiple categories
Bird and Conservation Talks
More detailed information will be shared once I get it from the organisers, but for those who have been here, it will most likely be the same setup as previous years.
For the new birdwatchers and bird photographers, I recommend you visit the Fraser’s Hill Bird Race 2022, as it will be one of the premier birding events in Malaysia, where most birders will be present.
I will be there, as usual, to document and cover the event for my publication here. And it would be great to meet some of my readers if you are planning to attend.
