Carey Heritage Bird Photography Competition 2025
The Carey Heritage Bird Photography Competition will be held from 3 to 5 October 2025 on Carey Island. SD Guthrie Berhad organises the event in collaboration with the Ecotourism & Conservation Society of Malaysia (ECOMY), which serves as the event organiser.
This competition is designed to highlight ecotourism and promote awareness of biodiversity while celebrating the natural beauty of Carey Island. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the island’s landscapes, discover its ecological importance, and photograph its wide variety of bird species.
Carey Island, located off the west coast of Selangor, is known for its colonial charm, natural greenery, and unique communities. It is also home to more than 65 species of birds, making it an attractive destination for both birdwatchers and photographers. From familiar residents to migratory visitors, the island provides many opportunities for nature photography in a rich and diverse habitat.
By bringing together nature lovers, photographers, and tourists, the Carey Heritage Bird Photography Competition not only supports local economic activity but also encourages conservation education and appreciation of Malaysia’s natural heritage.

May I know the panel of esteemed judges for the Photography Contest..
Good to have the Panel of Judges published.
Hi Chow, well, to be very honest, we at Birdwatching Asia promoted the event on our own free will. The organisers never want to work with us, so it’s hard to get information as everyone thinks that by sharing the info on their own personal social media feed, that gets the job done.
It’s been a long and frustrating process as we created the platform for organisers to work with us since 2018, so we can help them spread the event, but somehow, many still think they know how to do it by themselves. At the end of the day, I would recommend you question the organisers involved. We just do our humble part by sharing the news, and ranking high on Google Search results. We get a lot of traffic, but the organisers fail to understand this part. Maybe one day, they will wake up?
