The Taiping Bird Week event is a bird photography contest organised by the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT), which successfully highlighted photography talents and promoted sharing information among the local community.
The first Taiping Bird Week was held in 2017, and the second event was held from 1-7 October 2021. The response was overwhelming, especially from participants made up of nature lovers and bird lovers.
Taiping Bird Week 2021
Taiping Bird Week or TBW is a local tourism event that promotes a love for birds and nature. At the same time, it also encourages the same enthusiasm in the people’s minds, especially photography participants.
The birdwatching event was closed on 7 October 2021 by YB Dato Nolee Ashilin Binti Dato Mohammed Radzi, Chairman of the Housing, Local Government & Tourism Committee, Perak.
YB Dato ‘Nolee Ashilin also expressed the desire for the Taiping Bird Week tourism event to be made an annual tourism event in Taiping to further invigorate the tourism industry in Taiping through programs related to ‘Birds & Nature’.
One of the main reasons is because Taiping is endowed with beautiful terrain, rich in flora and fauna that can attract the presence of bird species and at the same time attract fans of bird watching activities to visit Taiping.
In 2021, many rare bird species became permanent residents of Taiping, especially at the Taman Tasik Taiping and Bukit Larut. Among the rare bird species are the Enggang Badak, Longtailed Parakeet, Cattle Egret and the Hudhud.

The organisers for this event is the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT), in collaboration with Tourism Perak Management Berhad and the Natural Ecosystem Sustainability Organization (NEST).
