The 32nd Southwest Wings Birding and Nature Festival 2023 will be held from August 2-5 at Cochise College in Sierra Vista, Arizona, United States. This is Arizona’s biggest birding and nature event and should not be missed.
This free, family-friendly festival is the big main event with 30 free program presentations that anyone can attend, including kids, exhibitors, vendors, live animals, and a Keynote Buffet Dinner, expertly guided fee-based field trips and pre-festival Jamboree (for registered trip participants only).
Southwest Wings Birding and Nature Festival 2023
The free program of talks and workshops will cover a wide range of topics from esteemed speakers, including Greg Homel, Rick Wright, Diana Hadley and Glenn Minuth. Southwest Wings President Chris Harbard will talk about “Hummingbirds – the Flying Jewels of the Americas” on 5 August, Saturday, 10:30 am -12 noon. Free morning bird walks on the college campus will also be from 7:30 am-9:00 am and from 3-5 August.
While there will be multiple things going on, there will also be a vendor section with some amazing people and businesses to look out for. They include;

- Delight’s Earthly Delights
- Kowa Sporting Optic
- Swarovski Optik (Festival sponsor)
They will also be there with their demonstration trailer, so you can try out the latest optical equipment.
Guided Field Trips
Small-group guided field trips will be mainly in Group Vans along with several Car Caravan style, in participants’ own vehicles, to nearby easily accessible locations. Each trip is led by an expert guide. This was a pre-booking trip which closed on 15th July.
The Summer festival is held in August and is ‘the’ big event with free programs, wildlife exhibits, vendors, guided trips and a keynote buffet.
