Some local birders have been asking me about bird watching at Kubang Badak BioGeoTrail in Langkawi as I have been visiting this beautiful island many times in the last few years.
I have never had enough days to explore some of the new places fully, and Kubang Badak is probably one of the birding destinations in Langkawi that I plan to visit.
Bird Watching at Kubang Badak BioGeoTrail
The most popular thing to do at Kubang Badak BirGeoTrail is the mangrove tours operated by locals and professional tour companies in Langkawi.
Perhaps one of the tour companies may offer bird watching services to Kubang Badak, but I am unsure of this for now. Once I get more confirmation, I will share the information here.
Because this area is mangrove and wetland, most bird watching activities will be by boat, which is the easiest way to do here. However, you should note that the boat charter is not cheap and about RM250 for one hour.
What Birds Are Seen at Kubang Badak BioGeoTrail?
There isn’t an official or bird list available now and only verbal accounts from some people. For me, I visited this place twice, and on both occasions, I have spotted the Brown-winged Kingfisher and White-bellied Sea Eagle.
The other birds that can be spotted include Brahiminy Kites, Black-crowned Kingfisher, Pied Hornbills, Herons, and the regular mangrove birds from the general mangrove and wetlands.
You will also get to see some exciting mangrove wildlife apart from birds when you visit Kubang Badak in Langkawi.

Until I visit this new place for bird watching in Langkawi, I can only share what I know from others, and there is not much information. We have to wait until the MCO in Malaysia is lifted for 2021.
I also managed to do some bird watching at Gunung Raya in Langkawi when I last visited here in mid of 2020 in between the movement control order or MCO in Malaysia.
Until I visit this place, this article provides basic information about bird watching at Kubang Badak BioGeoTrail for anyone interested.
